Check the continuity on the circuit. It sounds like the connection is bad.
I've had visits from a varying number of Amigos recently, from 1 to 4. Nanocom showed front left sensor not working and "road speed missing". I replaced the sensor today, and the front discs and pads while I had the wheel off. Discs badly needed replacing. Anyway, Amigos have all gone but now I've got no speedo. Nanocom is still showing "road speed missing". Any ideas? I've done a search but can't find anything on this particular problem.

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

I HATE auto electrics, mainly because I can't get my head round a lot of the concepts. Can I ask where the connection is likely to be bad? I would have thought that the disappearance of the Amigos meant a good connection but, as I say, I'm pretty ignorant about all this. As for checking continuity, I presume I split the connector under the bonnet and use a multimeter to check both sides, i.e. sensor to connector and connector to SLABS? I'll take a look at it tomorrow. Meantime I'll just use the Garmin as a speedo.
Cheers

The SLABS ECU has multiple functions, the 3 amigos in this case are irrelevant. You have to check if there is VSS(vehicle speed signal) output from the SLABS ECU ... i presume that the "road speed missing" is retrieved from the engine ECU but if you put the tester on live data or instrument mode can you see the road speed? Also in SLABS - outputs menu there is a speedometer test option, activate that too and if the speedo reacts the circuit is good If not and you are not skilled with electronics to check continuity of the VSS circuit you should replace the SLABS ECU to be ruled out.

You could try... undo the connector and clean up all the contact surfaces. Or if you are up to it, remove the connector and solder the wires, then heat shrink the joins.

Is the ABS warning light illuminated in the instrument cluster? because in my experience if the SLABS sees a missing road speed signal it would result in an ABS warning...
When I lost my speedo it was due to water ingress into a wiring loom header connector situated behind the heater blower fan. Have you had water in the passenger side footwell recently ?

Thanks for all the advice folks, I'll check things with the Nanocom over the weekend. I'll just add two things: the SLABS was replaced last year with one from a D2a when I fitted the recon transfer case with CDL. The "road speed missing" fault from the ECU was showing along with the sensor fault before I replaced the sensor. No problems with water and all warning lights have gone.

I’m watching this thread with interest as I have a speedo that often doesn’t work for the first few minutes in the morning. I’ve checked for moisture in the connector, but all dry.

This is the header connector where the Road speed signal from the SLABS splits and goes to the speedo. Directly above it is the blower inlet duct where on occasion water can enter resulting in dampness of the loom and carpet. In the photo I’ve pulled back the loom cover (sock) to reveal the blue header connector. Top left of the pic can be seen the bracket that the ECUs are attached too.
