Watts linkage centre bush failures - which normally fails? What's the sign/how to tel
In the 120,000km/9 years that I've had my D2a, I've replaced the watts linkage bushes a few times - replaced the genuine ones that were in when I bought it with Floflex from the UK that were terrible, then OEM and about to try SuperPro. Each time when I've replaced the bushes I've done all three centre bushes without looking at which of the three failed and caused the clunking.
Out of interest has anyone found if it's more common for the centre bush to fail, or one or both of the two outter bushes on the centre piece?
How does one tell/identify which bush is the failed one? It seem that they fail internally and don't show visible physical damage?

Thanks, but that doesn't really relate to the questions asked - which out of the three usually fails first and how to tell...?

Pulled mine apart yesterday as it's been clunking for a year or so. I couldn't see or feel anything wrong with the setup. It would seem the parts installed were all pattern - the two outer with German made Febi brand and no visible brand marking on the centre.
The centre bearing could be turned by hand and while some resistance turned smoothly.
The two outters seemed to have full range of motion rotating around.
Dust boots/seals were all in tact etc.
I've reassembled using Grove Auto Engineering Cranked Watts Linkage Arms < discovery 2 cranked watts linkage arms | website > and SuperPro SPF4400K <SuperPro Watts Link Bush Kit for LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 1998-2004 - Series 2 > bushes. Previously I had Les Richmond Automotive White Tiger watts link mount lower 50mm < White Tiger Watts Link mount lower 50mm > installed which I've now removed.
