Sounds like when our fuel pump died, but did you actually change the fuel filter? Also, is there a second sediment fuel filter back near the fuel tank, which might have gunk floating in it and can become clogged? Probably not the cause, but worth checking.
Battery 9.5V and Earth issue might send some parts of a TD5 Auto into "sleeping" or non-working mode before a full reset. I would bring in a brand new full charged battery of no less than 850 CCA, or recharge your battery to full charge first (recharge it outside of the car, so disconnect battery from the car). After that follow the priming fuel process as someone said above. Noisy fuel pump is nothing to worry about because I have had 2 of TD5 AUTO (1 with 129k, 1 with 250k kms) and both of them are with VERY noisy and STRONG VIBRATION fuel pump in comparison with my TD5 Manual that is VERY QUIET pump. If the issue still stays, I would think of Fuel Pump as Dazza's comment. Hopefully you can sort out the issue soon.
Have a look at this.
