It's brakes the axle with lockers on
breaks(damages)? ..... or brakes(stops/retards) it?
Quite an important difference in those two terms
Brothers TD5(02/03 model) has front and rear lockers, but unfortunately has no CDL(mechanism) in the transfer box.
One time we tested it to see how/if it works, and came to a slippery rock step fronts hard up lockers both in. TC never helped to brake one axle, so the other would grip and get the car up the rock step.
This was for both front and rear axle respectively.
We did get up, with just a repositioning so that only one of the fronts(and front locker in) would climb the rock step first .. just wouldn't get up with both fronts at the same time.
Also then tried with front locker disengaged and one front at a time again, and still got up OK, with minimal wheel spin on the front. Rear locker engaged too tho.

It's brakes the axle with lockers on
Does the TC kick in going down a normal tarmac rd?
Or is it just when the lockers are engaged on the dirt?
A few hours later..
I've been reading through RAVE. The TC kicks in up to 100kph!!!
RAVE states
"Vehicles from 03 model year (with differential lock fitted) – At speeds between 0 and 62.5 mph (0 and 100 km/h), ETC uses brake intervention in axle pairs to maintain even torque distribution between the front and rear axles. "
What does the "axle pairs mean?

Assuming each axle, ie. front or rear.
Remember, you have 4 axles, one to each wheel, so one pair for each front and rear.
I'm guessing that when they say axle pairs, that at up to 100 k/h on loose-ish surface(gravel/ice/wet/snow/etc) each axle assembly(either front or rear) will be braked to minimise torque understeer(front) or power oversteer(rear).
Doesn't say tho if this also happens when CDL is engaged(only says 'fitted') in that quote.

TC works fine all the time with open diff and CDL in and all that no problems
But when I have my F&R lockers on and spinning the wheels it brakes the whole axle and you can see it grab and let go grab and let go and the TC light comes one when it's working
The TC works fine with just the CDL locked. The car drives fine on the road, no TC problems.
With all diffs locked, wheel spin triggers the TC.
Can there be that much play, slack in the drive line?
Are the front and rear lockers actually locking?
Is it possible to turn off the TC? put a switch in? Sierra Fery might know.
What tracks are you going on?!! I know ignoring those tracks is out of the question.![]()

Have you checked that your CDL is actually locked by lifting a front wheel and seeing if turns?
