    TD5 Auto Box Issues

Ok brains trust. I've had a search through older threads and nothing seems to be relevant to my issue.

So it started happening about a month ago, nothing abnormal leading up to it, it just started happening out of the blue. More often than not when i start up the disco and shift into either reverse or drive it does not engage into that gear, it shows up on the dash that i'm in that gear but the gearbox doesn't engage it. The only way I can get it to go into any gear is when I start running up and down all the gears from P down to 1 about 10 times. I changed the gearbox oil and filter on the weekend just gone and filled it up to spec hoping that that was the problem but it's still occurring. Has anyone come across this before? Surely I couldn't be the first.

    Cheers

You might need to adjust the cable or the switch's position if you are lucky to not be a XYZ switch(or even worst) solenoid issue but usually these are coming together with flashing M+S warnings

It doesn't seem to be the XYZ switch at fault. There's no flashing M&S lights on the dash and the gear shows up on the screen as it should. The next thing I can think of is the Auto ecu starting to play up.

When you changed the fluid you did use the correct fill procedure of: With the engine running go through all the gears slowly and fill until a thin bead of fluid comes out of the filler hole and then before you stop the engine fit the filler/level plug? Nick

Yep, ran through the procedure correctly.

Mine does this too. I changed the oil a few times but no difference. I've found gently raising the revs in neutral or park before engaging drive works. I just wait to see if it nudges forward when drive is engaged and if it does off I go. If it doesn't, I go back for a bit more revving. Only need to do it once and then it works fine. Not ideal but been like that for about a year and hasn't gotten any worse. If you find a solution please let me know!

    Stevo

I have found that it only happens with cold/warm oil. So yes, when it's been sitting over night and yes when it's still in the process of getting hot. It happens in both forward and reverse gear, annnnnnddd it has about 342***kms.
