    Installing a reversing camera.

A few photos showing the fun and joy that can be had when installing a reversing camera.

    Camera_hole[1].jpg
The fun had in drilling a hole through thick steel. I started with 7mm and worked up to 18mm. I need a 19mm!! with a regular shaft.

Remove the rear quarter trim. But wait there's more!! Remove the trim over the rear door to remove the rear quarter trim

The access hole, just large enough to fit a grommet.

    acees_hole_inside[1].jpg

    Access hole from the inside.

    Access hole with Grommet.jpg

    Access hole with grommet.

    Cable with grommet.jpg

    Cable entering the car.

I ran the cable along the massive loom that goes to the rear lights, there seemed to be an awful lot of wires.

You may be able to see the camera cable. Just before I started the cable run under the headliner I check to see if there was enough to go to the camera. There wasn't! Very easy to fix at this stage.

    B Pillar trim removal.jpg

Remove the grab handles, and the B Pillar trim, But wait, there's more. remove the door seals on the B Pillar trim to access the B Pillar trim. Ah Land Rover, the gift that keeps on giving.

    Frint trim removal.jpg

Removal of a few bits to lower the headliner.

    And finally!!

    Where the screen will go.jpg

    Where the screen will go.

This is why I need a 19mm drill.

I don't want it sticking out like that!

I'll splice the power cable for the camera into the reverse cable. I think it is the green/brown for power and black is the earth. I have to check on RAVE. And work out a mounting thing for the screen, which could be putting some rectangular holes in the sunroof switch blank.

The view, The screen is held in with duct tape at the moment. I'm still thinking of a way to fix it in.

After splicing the power cable, the reversing light did not work. Bugger me, what have I cocked up? Nothing, the globe had blown.

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

I mounted mine below the top rear brake light on the back door. Wiring as you did down right hand side with roof lining out and wiring through the original door bellows and up alongside side the de mister wires...you can’t see it🙂...it looks through the glass...and works well🙂

Just wondering, as looking to wire in a Rear View Camera , did you get this low enough so the wiper coverage keeps the view clear?

I dropped the screen whilst installing it, and the three wires snapped. I have no idea which wire goes where, until I looked the unit up on the internet and found a photo of the circuit board with the wires. Now for some delicate soldering.

    The delicate soldering worked.
