Most modern sockets are rated to 10A but as this one is nearly 20 years old, I don't know what they were rated back then. As for the cabling![]()
Can anyone tell me the power capacity of the cigarette lighter socket in the rear compartment?
Can it run two fridges, without danger of lunching the cabling?

IMHO you are asking for trouble to try to run even one fridge from the back cigarette lighter socket. Can anyone tell me the power capacity of the cigarette lighter socket in the rear compartment?

In any case it is AFAIR only active with the ACC position and from the vehicle main battery.
Even with a say 70AH ( implied from 1000CCA main battery) you risk going flat overnight once the battery is a bit old or people open the fridges on a hot day or night.
I am a bit anal and have a 120AH house battery in the original battery position and a second 750CCA battery on the firewall running the car, with a 4AWG cable running to the back with a 8AWG for the final 2 metres.

You can run a cable to the rear. And add a socket or three.

The cable for this runs under the car via the aux battery and into the body behind the rear light.
You could run a cable without an aux battery. (but it is better if you have a fridge)

You can run a fridge of the rear power outlet, it is rated to 180w but the plug type is totally unreliable. You cant get a plug that will deliver power reliably from a cig lighter plug. They will work initially, then become increasingly intermittent until they just don't work, and it happens pretty quickly and without fail. If you're running a fridge, the best thing you can do it run power from the front to a proper plug in the rear that goes onto the fridge.

I would imagine that it all depends on how long you intend to run the fridges for and regardless of what Type of plug you are using (the standard ciggy plugs are crap) you will most likely be facing a flat battery in the morning if you run just one fridge overnight whilst parked up let alone two of them.
IF you are wanting to run the fridge/fridges ONLY when you are travelling and disconnect them when you stop then I would imagine that the factory wiring would be up to the job and all you really need to do is swap out the standard ciggy lighter plug for a merrit or anderson type plug.
An auxiliary battery setup is by far the best option for running a fridge/fridges or any other 12v appliance on a full time basis, Personally I have a 120AH aux battery in the rear of my D2a that is completely "stand alone" that is powered by a 160W solar panel mounted on the rear of the roof that runs a 38l Engel 24/7 and is also capable of running my 80l Waco at the same time.

I have to tidy and modify my setup but a dedicated fridge feed is the only way to go.
My second battery was where the SLS comp would be, but the PO had a lead acid DC battery hanging below the chassis rail.
This has been removed and a gell cell deep cycle is going there on its side
