Email td5inside@gmail.com and get an hybrid turbo bit more money but well worth it
Hi folks. My turbo has done 340000km
So I'm thinking I'll get a new chra core.
I see that a while ago there were a large number of people on here who used the "uprated billet chra" from turbo rebuilds. As it's twice the price of a standard replacement chra I'd be interested in the opinions of those who fitted them. How have they been long term?
Are they worth the extra $$$ or do I stick to a standard good quality chra?
Cheers

I'm sure a full hybrid is well worth it but then I need to upgrade my intercooler and my map and then a week later my poor 4hp22 will eat itself. One day I'll have a 4hp24 hanging off the back of it but until then I need to be a bit more restrained.
The price of the hybird includes an map and you can get it adjusted to suit the power output for your auto
I purchased one of those cores that the group purchases. Personally I didn't notice much difference. If I was you I would save the money and go with the stock one if you don't want to go down the path of chasing power.
I just removed the entire turbo to replace it with a VGT. That I would recommend if you want to spend the money.

Standard one it is then. Cheers
On the td5 the chra uprated core is a reasonably worthwhile thing to do, when I priced things up it was the same price as a stock one so it was a no brainer tbh.
They do give a bit better performance down low with what I feel is noticeably less lag.

Has anyone with just the CHRA and upping the boost who also has the V8 Torque Converter?
Is this enough to get it to lock up early or does it still require a map. I am waiting on a SERCK inter-cooler and have the middle muffle bypass on the boat along with the EGR delete to be done. See that the Turbo Rebuild website is talking 10% more power and 500 rpm earlier pick up (this is from a pretty low power base lol).
Am anticipating Jose's map but know this may not be until Christmas and then a secondary question re mapping what gain over the standard turbo would the CHRA give when mapped at the so called stage 2?
Torque converter lockup speed is controlled by the auto ecu, with extra info supplied from the engine ecu, this is not changeable without remapping the auto ecu.
With the turbo core and upgraded torque converter you will experience somewhat ordinary performance, particularly from a standing start...unless you remap.

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.
