    Recovery Point problem?

    Hey,

So as far as I can tell I've searched here and the Internet far and wide. Latest post from here is 4 years ago and doesn't solve y question.
I'm after mounting a recovery point on the front of my D2. I found a set on Landy Bitz but questioning if they will work. I've got an Arb bar and another guard bar mounted where I believe they should attach. I'm hoping the pictures show what I mean and if anyone has any sort of suggestions.

I dont have access to a workshop to make my own however if someone has successfully made some id be interested and just as interested if anyone knew where I could get a point that would work.
    Cheers

That is where the front recovery point is mounted.
Or of you go the whole hog and install an ATP steering guard there is a video.
DIY Install Land Rover Discovery 2 APT Steering Guard - YouTube

The steering guard bar or wombat bar, aka mouse bar, (because if you hit a mouse with it, the bar will break!) To keep the steering guard, you will most probably want longer bolts. High tension bolts. Not the regular bolts from say Bunnings. Those would shear under stress.

Defender recovery points from the model that was current with the D2 will fit - that’s what I have fitted. Also they might be easier to source new, or for used try TRS WRECKERS in SOUTH Australia.

Les Richmond Automotive(LRA) in Melb, has a kit (recovery hooks) on their site.
Will mount with bullbar in place too.
Looks easy to fit( I dunno, just guess) as I'm thinking of something for my D1 too.
LRA's kit fits D1, D2 and RRCs type chassis as stated on their site.

    Recovery Hook Kit

$190 isn't too bad price nowadays.

Good price but might not work with a steering bash plate ...

I have these on my D1 and the Les Richmond hooks on my D2.

I much prefer the hook as it is far easier to put a strap on. No mucking around with shackles.

    Both do the job though.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
