    Power issues after rebuild

    Evening Rover team,

    Been a long process with my D2 manual. When I first bought it I pulled the head off and put it in the shop, and then life happened... I ended up pulling the motor out... All the gaskets have been done, has new valves, copper washers and the oil pump bolt is now loct tight.. has a new clutch, EGR delete, all new coolant hoses and radiator. Has the nice metal dowels and is the proud owner of the nanocom Evo.. has a new cps in the glove box. And a nice new loom..4 ball joints and tie rods coming next week along with silicone intercooler hoses... If they fix this issue it'll be timee to delete the cat upgrade the intercooler and get it tuned...

    Was having starting issues when I first got her going and on the way from Cooma to Mt Isa it died after less than 5k turned out the shop had messed up the injector clearances and 3 of the injectors were actually smashed... Literally the valve coils were smashed to pieces... That was fixed...

    Now I can get it up to 140 at times but at other times it's lucky to do 100.. up Hills it's soft in 4th and 5th...

    It has a warped exhaust manifold which has a leak, as I needed it on the road, lucky because I nearly bought one of those ridiculous stainless ones... I'm dewebbing and machining it after I do the joints..
    I've read that the air should be coming in at 600+ at full noise but mine is reading 200 and under. I unplugged the maf and it does not improve the performance. Can't even do 100 pulling an empty 8x5, which I know is not right... I suspect the intercooler hoses, but would like to hear your thoughts...

    Something I've noticed, and researched tonight is cylinder balances... At idle it is fairly normal, but with light revs there are massive differences, especially in cylinder 3, and it shudders quite a bit. Another thing I've noticed is that my modulator % usually reads at 40 but is now not going above 37%...

    I hope they replaced all 5 injectors with the correct type for the engine , it's also probable the injector rockers and / or shaft was damaged . I wouldn't be trusting they got the cam timing right either .Maybe take it to someone that knows these engines

    Thanks for the reply Discovery. I did the timing and purchased the black tops so I know that's all good, plus they've been coded. I realised this morning that disconnecting the MAF sensor doesn't change anything until after you restart the car. It was back to normal today with the MAF unplugged.

    No probs, but black top injectors are for a 10p ( or euro 2 engine ) in which case the maf shouldn't have any bearing on those symptoms

    I haven't found a definite answer, so hopefully today will be the day, from what I read, the cylinder balances don't mean much under load, only at idle. Is that right? I'll get the nanocom back on it this afternoon or tomorrow and post both the highest and lowest recorded balances, at both idle and under load.

    I get 60 at idle and around 215 at 2000rpm. Have not checked over 2000.
