Front axle seal not pressing in

    Hello all,

I recently replace the upper and lower balljoints and on the way to get an alignment realised how stupid it was to have not replaced the axle seals when I spotted diff oil EVERYWHERE...

I've got the passenger side out and cannot for the life of me get the new seal to go home.. I've tried both new seals to no avail and have actually buggered one up trying to hit it harder... I'm using the cup of a balljoint press that fits the seal nicely but it just will not go in... They are from all4x4...

Any chance anybody has run into this before?

Haven't run into that problem before. Have had issues with the ID hole of the seal being too small and quickly getting destroyed after fitment.

What brand seals are they? Personally I recommend the NAK brand units.

For fitment I usually use the extension bar and an appropriate sized socket from my 3/4" set. I lightly grease the recieving part of the diff housing, and seal. I also grease the spring of the seal up to help it stay in place during fitment (hasn't actually been an issue I've experienced but was recommended to me years ago and I've stuck with it). I then carefully tuck the lip into the socket gap, and tap it into place.

Not so stupid question. I had trouble replacing the fuel filter. The old rubber seal was stuck to the filter housing.

Had similar issue after changing my ball joints and found the seal was a tight fit. Made a dolly to gently tap it in but too no avail ended up gently tapping in with a brass drift and has not leaked since
