Swapped out SLABS box and now a problem

Hi - semi new here and needing some advice. Here's the details.

2000 Disco 2 w/ SLS, Auto Trans, US model. No 3 amigos, no error codes until I added CDL to the truck and was getting the error when CDL is engaged and you turn on/off the truck,. Not the end of the world but in my relentless pursuit of perfection... I read everywhere that it is possible to swap in a 2003 or 2004 SLABS unit to avoid this and no cutting wires. And the newer D2a SLABS boxes from 03/04 are supposed to take CDL into account and thus, better traction control.

I have now tried 3 separate 03/04 SLABS boxes and all of them give me the same error code - "PWM signal failure from Engine ECU" and the TC and HDC lamps illuminate.

If I swap back in the original 00 SLABS, there are no error codes (unless I start the car with the CDL engaged and then I get the 3 amigos).

I originally thought the "new" 03 SLABS was bad, but I tried another, and then one from an 04, and all have the exact same error when I drag out the Nanocom.

Someone else must have run into this, it seems like something in the 03/04 SLABS box isn't playing nice (all SLABS boxes have been changed to air suspension, and heights set up).

I've identified relevant connectors, wiring, these 3:

Engine ECU 0637-17 - PWM output to SLABS CO504-10 (White-Silver)
Engine ECU 0637-34 - PWM input- Rough Road Signal to SLABS C0504-4 (Red-Green wire)
    Engine ECU 0636-29 - PWM HDC Output (Silver-Purple) to C)504 - 10 on SLABS

    Ideas?

Hi, ive seen this before, unfortunately i couldnt figure out the real issue cos i was convinced that the SLABS is completely programmable but it seems that there is some hidden coding in the SLABS and those removed from Td5 dont work on NAS V8s nor vice-versa, eventually try to change the market in the BCU - Alarm/other but i can't confirm if that would work or not. If at least one of the ECUs you fitted was removed from a NAS/V8 then i have no ideea cos as long as the original ECU works it's not a PWM path issue
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned

Thank you. I can confirm all the replacement SLABS I've swapped in are from NA v8 models. Super weird. Such a bummer!

    Hi

A short term solution maybe to do the wire cut as per this www.discovery2.co.uk/Factory Diff Lock and leave the original SLABS in?

Not sure about the PWM fault sorry

    Lemo
