If the bolt holes go all the way through the case, oil could leak along the threads.

This type of leak occurred in a couple of spots on the P38A engine so the bolts needed thread sealant on them. Maybe the same needs to be done with the coverplate. I’m going to a workshop tomorrow so I’ll have a look at a transfer case.

Oh, wait, wife’s birthday tomorrow, if I go anywhere it won’t be to the workshop

Yep, as Ron alluded, they are through bolts on the cover plate.
Just make sure it isn't coming from the intermediate shaft at the front of the case, that's very common and can look like a cover plate leak.

If you're pretty sure it's the cover plate, dump the fluid, drop the plate and be fastidious with cleaning both surfaces, brake cleaner is your friend here with lots of paper towel/clean rags and include the threads.
I nice bead of RTV, or my preference, Loctite 515 or 518, and make sure it extends into the bolt holes and oil hasn't come through from inside.

Bugger, I just gave one away - it was brand new as I had no use for it
