I was going to put up a list of differences between what the Nanocom can access and what additional information is in the SLABS ECU. But it is quite a few and some what complicated in the details. (Too much typing.) But if some one wants to know I can send a copy of what is in there by email. Not sure where I got this info from but there is 9 pages compared to Nanocoms 5 pages which seems to be a copy of parts of the 9 page paper. I thought it might have been from the Landrover Book but no sure about that.

If you get to it check first the VIN stored in the ECM to match with the vehicle then save the same VIN into the SLABS cos if the ECM is not original it might have other VIN than the vehicle, IMO important is to have same VINs in both ECUs no matter which one you modify... I'm watching this with interest, good luck and happy new year

Now what?
The Foxwell will change the VIN and then return it back to the correct one for the original SLABS. But it will not let me change the incorrect VIN on the SLAB I want to use as a replacement. When I have the original SLAB connected with correct VIN there is no PWM communications fault. So either the incorrect VIN causes this or another form of fault in the replacement SLAB ECU. The Foxwell has also finally allowed me to calibrate the level sensors of the airbag system. After quite a few unsuccesfull attempts. It just keeps the airbags at the set level. None of the other airbag functions work. My next play will be to save the settings and transfer them to my computer and see if I can change the VIN and then reload the altered setting and see if that takes. The government suggests that if a safety recall is on their site then it should be actioned. Interesting to see what Landrover says to that after almost 20 years.
I had some stress that i misinformed you about foxwell's capacity to change the SLABS vin so i digged out the post where it was confirmed. Probably the ECU which doesnt let you do that has an issue
