A small electric hatchback makes me cry

I almost dropped my phone and cried when I saw this article this morning where it shows 173kw/605Nm torque out from a small hatchback Hyundai.

Crying. Im still struggling to power my D2a to 130kw/420Nm.

Yeah, and full torque as soon as you move too.

Interested to see what the pricing is too - current model is far inferior in spec compared to the new models top spec and starts at $60K plus on roads so not really a viable option for most at the moment. I would be hoping for a decrease in price for the base spec of this, but will see.

It's a bit hard comparing a 20 + year old land rover to this! Let's compare it to a Hyundai 20 years ago A small electric hatchback makes me cryA small electric hatchback makes me cry

Don’t cry. If you want to keep the D2 and get equivalent power, you could always drop in a D4’s 3.0L unit and get 180kW and 600Nm. After all, if you can fit a D3’s 2.7L TDV6 into a D1, you should get that to fit into a D2. I always did want to buy that kit from the UK! 😁 👍

Then again, that’s a lot of get up and go in that little thing. I’ll take the AWD thanks!

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

Im so tempting to think about (switching to) a D3 Manual which can be tuned to 185kw /510Nm which definitely is in the power range I love.

Actually I think the 2001 accent has better power to weight than the rover. It's about 1100 kgs and the rover is about 2500 isn't it. That means the accent has 79kw to 1100 which is about 0.071 and the rover is 130 to 2500 which is 0.051. Sorry but the 2001 Hyundai is still better powered 😂

Electric motor in my Landy only has like 150 Nm , but it has over 6000 Nm in Low first . Its the torque at Zero RPM that makes electric a winner.
