    M&s lights

    Cruising along suddenly cruise control drops out m&s lights and d light are flashing. I have drive and reverse only. Seems I only have fourth gear with no converter lockup. Code po705,is this the xyz switch

    I've had the same thing and it was the loom from the XYZ switch being abraded where it crosses the transmission. The "P" clip that is supposed to hold it (the loom) in place had carved through the insulation.

    Can those wires be reached from the bottom. Or better to remove the consul

    Better to remove the console.There are 13? Rivets to drill out.

    Remove the console. There are 13 rivets to drill out (and replace) and be careful of a couple of sharp edges that are waiting for you. You shouldn't lose too much knuckle skin.

    So made it the 150 odd kms home this morning with the lights gone and everything working as it should.I had cleared the fault yesterday afternoon last thing,fired it up this morning and drove it home,think i will start with a fluid level check first incase but if there is no leaks it cant be low[perhaps] leaning towards the wires instead of the xyz switch at this stage as the last 30 kms with the fault was pretty rough corrugations so possibly shook the wires into the right place, If the wires that were shorting suddenly were not shorting would of the M&S lights etc gone out or only when the fault was cleared.
