Need some help with wheel caps

    Hi everyone

Recently i purchased an 04 d2 "town" edition. Now, this came with the 18 inch alloys which i have since replaced with some genuine LR 16's with larger tyres.
Since the new 16's did not come with a centre caps i decided ide use the ones from the 18's even though the previous owner had sprayed over them with a rattle can prior to sale.

The caps were fairly secure in the 18's but were almost unusable in the 16's. I tried my luck and lost 3 out of 4.

Is there a difference in wheel caps between different alloys? Can anyone shed some light on this? I do want to replace all 5 but don't want to spend a fortune on genuine caps that will fall out again.

    Cheers everyone

I have had 4 different sets of genuine wheels over my ownership of 3 different D2 (still use D2a with all caps on), I can tell that the caps that we lost are the old ones that were loosen by themself (I lost 3-4 of them). The newer condition ones (I don't mean brand new) will stay firm in all wheels of either 16inch or 18 inch.

Looks like the PO gave the sidewalls a touch of colour at the same time.

On my P38A, I used a couple of dabs of silicone rubber to keep the caps in place. Still easy to remove if needed.

Talk to Mario at Roverlord, he'll be able to supply genuine caps for both sets of wheels.

Plenty on ebay - less than $20 for four in some cases - as Ron said, a dob or two of silastic sealant will keep them in place.

Yes ive seen heaps for sale, my question was if there was different types to suit different style rims.
I had to physically knock them out of the rim on the 18's and they barely even touched the sides on the 16's. Just wanted to clarify that there wasnt different styles for different rims and sizes

You measure the size you need and order that size - most LR ones are 63mm but I have seen some advertised previously at 68mm - maybe it is the 68mm ones you need.
