    Injector harness clip dropped

I was taking the old injector harness out when my wife came out to talk to me about something and scared the bejeesus out of me. I dropped one of the clips. I can't feel it anywhere but I cant get my fingers in very far either. I'm about to drop the oil from the sump to make it a bit easier to at least see.. Is it important to find it? I don't like the idea of it being in there.

*First up, you blamed your wife
*I used to find that happened in workshops I worked in. People with no concept of understanding how a tradesperson works or thinks would blindly come up behind them and start flapping their mouth. I started to bring up in morning meetings (hug n feel good meetings) that "other" staff when approaching someone actually doing work in the workshop to approach from the front so the person has a chance to see them.

    *On to more pressing things...
*Pretty important you find that missing small piece of metal that may end up being munched by the camshaft, injector and whatever else the engine gods only know.
*Try using a small magnet on some wire and fish around.
*Draining the oil wont help as the oil sitting in the head will remain.
    Regards
    Daz

I got it out. I used a small thin magnetic screwdriver. I knew when it fell it wasn't something I would like to leave in there. I drained the oil and it didn't make a difference but it's service time anyway so full oil and filter replacement along with the leaking loom. New loom is in place. ECU is clean. Time to swap out oil and fuel filters and fill up. After lunch. I need to fill up first.

Dazza, I didn't tell my wife it was her fault. I said my fingers were slippery because of the oil. I worked for my dad for a few years. He was a mechanic. He ended up bringing in a "No customers past this point" rule. Said it was for their safety. It was to stop them bugging us while we were working.

Those clips are not supposed to be removed, they must be pushed to release the connector, same on the MAF and others, remember that for the next time , like in the video sec 30 How EV1 Injector Clips Work | Installation for PROFLEX Commander harness - YouTube
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
