Thread: Question for anyone with a rear door ladder

Any weight on the ladder is increased at the hinge by mechanical advantage, when the door is open. I think a jerry is a big ask of the hinges and pillar.

Good point. Already have a bigger tyre on there.
Maxtrax storage wouldn't be pushing it too far i imagine. They aren't overly heavy, nothing like a jerry anyways.

You really don't want too much more weight on that. When I fitted oversize tyres I made sure that when the door was closed the tyre rested on the rear steel bar to provide some hinge relief - especially for off road/corrugations.

I guess a max-track would be ok, I'd be using the ladder to get onto the roof rack to access the max-track, etc. You can get fittings for the max-track that go on the side of the roof rack.
