Any weight on the ladder is increased at the hinge by mechanical advantage, when the door is open. I think a jerry is a big ask of the hinges and pillar.
Quick question for anyone with a read door ladder. Can you or have you ever used it for storage or bulky items like maxtrax or maybe even a jerry can?
I'm thinking a rear door ladder would make a good maxtrax holder but ive never seen one in person. Hard to gauge these things from photos online.

I guess a max-track would be ok, I'd be using the ladder to get onto the roof rack to access the max-track, etc. You can get fittings for the max-track that go on the side of the roof rack.

Most people carry at least 2x maxtracks ( I carry 4x) .
Maybe not so weighty clean but covered in mud/sand they can be so putting all that extra kgs on the rear door hinges isn't a great idea. .
Whack them on the roofrack and use the ladder to access them![]()
