    Ummmm what?

Putting the centre console back together and I've come across this part.....i have absolutely no idea where it has come from or where it goes? Possibly related to the shifter? Stripped the centre console out 3 weeks ago so any idea of where i got it from is long gone

Can anyone shed some light here?

    Hi there,

pretty sure it's part of the drink tray/caddy. There is a hair spring, that gear and some teeth along the coin tray, ashtray and drink caddy that makes it all work when you push it to open/close. What I can definately tell you is that a replacement black caddy is dearer than grey and hard too come by, I've had to replace 2 of them!

    Cheers, James NZ

Thanks everyone. Drink tray still works fine so honestly not sure what is going on here. Think ill just accept this as a win and chalk it up to just land rovers doing land rover things

May be it was from an old drink tray that was replaced and has been laying hidden to be discovered late.

I think you're on the money here! I found an old service receipt from the previous owner who paid $150 for a new drink tray.
