I put a Dayco on when mine went but if I was to do it again I would put a Ross on as they are a better balancer.
Looks like I'm up for my second HB change, this ones done maybe 100k km's in 6 years and getting the rattle at idle only with the A/C switched on, no shutdown squeak so Ive got a little time up my sleeve.
Who is using the Dayco replacement or the Ross Performance TUFFBOND units and how are they going? Trying to decide if its worth spending the money on the Ross or just talk a walk down Dayco Avenue.

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
You'll find the Indy repairers use the Dayco Powebond.
Designed (and once upon a time made) in Oz, now made in Taiwan by Dayco.
Quality should be really good.
IIRC a copy of the OE style balancer.
Ross used to make really good gear.
I believe Ross was sold a few years back.
If the new owners have maintained the QC they will be exceptionally well made HB's.

Several liferimes ago when I was racing the good engine builders I knew used Ross balancers
Ordered the Ross earlier this week, should be here hopefully mid week next week. Really need my A/C back, its heading into the high 30's here again for the next 5 or 6 days...![]()
AFAIR the only downside of Ross is that the holder( to hold the balancer still to undo and redo it) made by a member of this forum will not fit. I do not know about the Dayco but if it is a copy of OEM the tool should fit.
I have one but have never used it. It's like insurance I guess.

Showed up at work today, it is really pretty I gotta say, I may have even given it a little bit of polish it looks that good
Not too bothered about the holder, I dont intend to take it off and I can lock the crank anyway but making one to suit is 10 minutes if I really need to.
Didn't need one last time to take it off either as I just pulled the fuel pump relay, got out a breaker bar and cranked it against the chassis rail to break the tension.
Here's to never having to do it again, the only thing still original on the front after 360k odd km is the water pump and that looks absolutely pukka still
