Can someone identify this for me?

Thank you in advance to anyone who can tell me what this black box is on my right hand chassis rail adjacent to the rear prop shaft with the 3 or 4 hoses coming in/out of the front?

For some reason I've never really noticed it before.

    Thanks everyone

The petrol bit will be what got you - I suspect you are used to diesel 4x4s.
