It's because the Td5 is not OBD2 compliant, even if some OBD2 scanners can see some data those are usually inaccurate
At the risk of this being covered already, has anyone been able to connect one of these to a D2 TD5, or a Defender TD5.
I was assured when I bought the Scan Gauge that it would work, but I cannot get past the 'Connecting' phase. The Scan Gauge support service is less than useful and don't answer the questions I have asked. I did see a post in a South African forum from someone saying they had one working there, but their ECUs could be set up differently.

Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
Yeah, like sirerrafery said ... TD5 is not OBD compliant, because it never needed to be.
If it were sold in the US at the time, it would have had to be OBD compliant(like the V8 did).
IIRC(and can't be sure about) .. I think the D2a TD5 was OBDII because Europe made it compulsory for 2004(for diesels!!) .. where the TD5 was sold.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
'99 D1 300Tdi Auto ( now sold :( )
'03 D2 Td5 Auto
'03 D2a Td5 Auto
I'm not aware of any TD5 based vehicle being OBD2 compliant irrespective of the age unfortunately.
Do you have a list of the scangauge supported protocols?
