Thread: SLS PISTON OR BEARING?

So the dash is throwing up an SLS fault but there's no codes coming up in the Nanocom. Driving along happily and for no reason light comes on and it starts dinging Saturday night.
Sunday no problems, hasn't dumped and is still riding happily. This mornings drive to work and again all good until the drive home where it all starts again.

Got home tonight, put it into test mode and did a valve raise only to be greeted with this noise from underneath. Is this a slow death from the motor or does it sound like just a piston seal?

It's taking its time to raise but the noise is what's worrying me...

So, after deliberating for an hour or two why a typical 3 pin wiper type sensor has 6 pins, it dawned on me that the sensor number is the same for LH & RH. This means it has two sensor circuits as both arms point front on both sides.
So why not swap them side for side, I've essentially got two worn halves and two unused halves, why throw out two half used sensors!
Swapped out, no faults, no lights and hopefully no constant "DING DING DING" driving me up the wall for 45 minutes in the commute.
