Hi, all
I am hoping someone maybe able to help me figure out what this rattle noise is coming from underneath my car.
It can only be heard when off the throttle, slowing down below 30kmh.
It almost sounds like a plate/shield.
It can only be heard when the windows are down
There is no noticeable change is drive or anything.
It started after have my front wheel hubs changed out for some second hand ones.
Please help it's making my car sound like a POS.

SupporterMore than likely the hand brake shoes rattling.
Try gently pulling on the hand brake a couple of notches and see if it stops it, then if it does search on here for fix.

Have a look at that before you celebrate

I had a simmilar sound coming from under my D2a just before the output bearing in the transfer case carked it.
Have a look at that before you celebrate
After a small drive, I think that maybe may next point of call.
Would you not feel it while driving though?
I hope not, is it a big job replacing that?

SupporterThere was no noticable vibration until the bearing got really bad and I had to have the transfer case rebuilt.
I actally thought it was just a bit of wire jamed up under there because I had done a fair bit of paddock work at that time chasing sheep and it was what it souded like.
No wonder I couldn't find the wire when I searched under the car.

Check for a loose hub nut.

SupporterAnother easy thing to look for underneath, if nothing obvious is loose(like the muffler heat shield or handbrake) ... are the disc brake mud shields(could be just one or more).
They're held on with the tiniest little screws and can cause a metallic rattle.
