    Seeking D2 TD5 Evaporator

    Hi All,
Also posted in 'wanted' section, but I know I don't go there often, so I thought here would be more successful.
    Mods, please remove if necessary.

As the title suggests, I'm after an evaporator for a D2 TD5.
Yes, its the one under the dash!
Yes, it's PITA to remove, hence many wreckers or LR parts folk aren't that keen.
    Yes, I've done one before!

Any leads or suggestions are welcome, new or second hand.
I'm in Bris, but can travel a bit if necessary, or discuss postage.

I've rung a few wreckers, not LR specific and they either didn't want to free it from the wreck or wanted too much to do so.
I've sourced a couple of new from O/S but would prefer to acquire locally, and not wait as long.
I'm open to removing it myself or assisting.

    Any leads or suggestions?
I'll keep ringing around in the meantime

    Cheers
    Ralph

Given this is really a job you don’t want to do twice, how much do you really trust a second hand unit?

Tru Dat! I'm weighing up the costs. In the near-ish future, this car will become purely recreational - a weekend plaything and off road camping car for the fam.

    Ok,
    This is proving difficult!
Can anyone confirm the part number for a RHD TD5 evaporator?
I think it's JOF100000 but every search turns up something different.
    Edit:
I'm pretty sure this is it. Doesn't seem to matter LHD or RHD, nor diesel or petrol.

    Cheers

I have a copy of Microcat to 2009. If you PM me your VIN I might have a decent chance of getting the right part number.

    Hi All,
    Just ordered one of these.
Land Rover Discovery TD5 Air Cond Cooling Coil / Evaporator

    Yes, it's not genuine,
Yes, it's a copy of little provenance,
But even with shipping and exchange, it's quite reasonable and I'm happy to take the risk.
Remembering that the car is 23 yrs old, and not often driven. It will become a play car soon so I am not really concerned if it only lasts 5-10 yrs.
Of course, if it fails in a short period of time, I'll have to absorb that risk, but I reckon it's worth a shot!

I'll fit it when it arrives, see how it goes and keep y'all posted.

Righto, dash is nearly out, new evaporator has arrived.
The evaporator is bare (as expected) as I read somewhere that TX Valves are not a common fault and I'd planned on swapping the original one out.

I'm doubting my plan now, as the business I used to diagnose the problem, suggested I needed both an evaporator and TX Valve.
Running short on time so I'll see if I can source one in the next day or I'll swap and hope.
