Post Picked up this 2001 TD5 Manual over the holidays

    2001 TD5 Manual with 175000km

Pros - Running beautifully, tidy interior, icy air con, came with front bar, snorkel, roof racks and CB.

Cons - No rego (on pensioner rego until recently), bald tyres, bit of cancer in the usual places, drivers window not working, radio not working, drivers door central locking touchy, glove box plastic cracked, rear bar cracked and some exterior trim missing.

Haven't decided if I will keep it, get it rego'd and make a project of it or flip it yet. Advice and/or well wishes accepted and appreciated!

Where is the rust? Rust isn't normally an issue in Australia with the Disco2.
    Cheers

This one has lived the majority of its life in Coastal NSW..... The rear window frames have a little at their base where the black frame meets the rubber trim. There is also a little in the rear roof gutter and along the top of the front windscreen.

That is a rare beast the TD5 manual, 5 seater with coils instead of EAS I presume, even more rare are ones with tan interior.

Perhaps not in your sunny climes, Simon. As stated already, above the screen. Front footwells, possibly caused by water ingress from the above, or simply blocked sunroof drains, compounded by the idiotic sponge of a carpet underlay. I think the D1 is way worse for this one though.

I know what your saying re underlay, from bitter experience. However I wouldn't change it as it adds big time to the drone/noise reduction in the D2 compared to so many vehicles which run a much thinner layer or closed cell foam. The truth is that the D2 foam should never have to resist sucking up water, but being a Land Rover than concept eventually falls away. Mine didn't leak water for over 20 years so that is a surprise and pretty impressive. It didn't even leak a drop of oil for 200,000k Picked up this 2001 TD5 Manual over the holidays.

To the OP nice buy mate. You should enjoy that. Cheers

From my experience with the Defender if it ain't leaking oil and rusting it ain't a real Rover

Yeah 5 seater coil suspension, I'm not too familiar with the model range and specs but i assume having a cloth interior and none of the above that it is the base Aussie model?

I see online that there are some models that came without climate control, passenger air bag and a few other little luxuries but I assume they didn't make it over here?
