Isn't that the other way around, it's the spare lugs nuts that are threaded further. The normal nuts are still drilled out so you can just use a tap to finish threading them.

It's been so long I had to go and check, but you are correct. I'm glad I did as I found that at some point I'd used my redundant locking nuts to secure the spare! Now to find my spare nuts and the correct tap. Still think it's a stupid idea....

    Mate found them on amazon.
Waiting on postman now as they are coming from yankee land.
They go from #A through to J # so there's a bit of difference between each of them.
Will let you know how it goes when it arrives.

    cheers

Simplest way to do it is to find a 1/2" drive socket that fits halfway down the bulge - 15/16ths or a metric somewhere between 22 and 25mm has worked for me in the past. (Sometimes a plumber's box spanner works too.)
Hammer that on over the top of the locknut, then use the 1/2" drive to remove them. Some persuasion may be required.
Get some plain wheel nuts from a wrecking yard to replace them.
Or go to your friendly local tyre service - should take them about 3 minutes with an oversize socket hammered on, then use the rattlegun.

    This
Of all the times ( and there has been a few ) that I have had to get lock nuts off D2's without the key , between banging on either a 24mm or 25mm double hex 1/2' drive socket they have always come off.

Same, the only vehicles these wheels will fit are Disco2 and P38 rangies which almost all came with alloys anyway. With these alloys only being worth about $50ea if they even sell at all, there really isn't much of a risk of having your wheels stolen.

Unless you're modified, that'd be almost only for another Disco 1/2 or RRC as well!
