New to D2's Wheel nut cover removal

I just bought a 2000 D2 and of course the wheel nut cover tool is broken.
Not wanting to fork over $24 for another that also may break, will any of these Ebay ones do the same job?

Is this for the lock nut? I think a lot just replace the lock nut with a regular wheel nut. D2 wheels don't really fit anything other than a P38 Range Rover, and with wheels worth about $50 they don't really get stolen.

For the normal wheel nuts, you don't need to pull the covers.

I should have said locknut, Tried multigrip pliers. Good thinking about a normal nut. Might just destroy the cover anyway.

Yes, just smash it off and then get a regular nut.

And check your spare. I ditched my locking nuts so had no use for the locking nut removal tool so ditched it as well.

Then one day got a flat, only to find the spare, which had a cover, also had a lock nut and I had no tool.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Get a bigger socket, like this (or a 28)
Laser Tools 8227 Double Ended Damaged Wheel Nut Socket 27 x 27.5mm

Open them and throw away the caps or nuts also and get stainless nuts.

Thanks mate! You could have suggested this twelve months ago.

I hope you are not getting confused with your wheel nuts

D2's have 1(one) anti theft nut on each wheel and a special socket should be in your tool kit for that, its fairly hefty

the other 4 nuts on each wheel are a special capped nut, the caps are not meant to be removed. I think a 27mm socket fits them, someone suggested 28 but I think that's wrong. I may be.

any LR workshop can help you . why were you trying to remove them?

I sold my D2 with over 300,000km on it and the wheel nuts were still good.

Don't ever let a tyre shop put a rattle gun on your wheels, they will **** your nuts for you.
