    wildpeak

About to buy new tyres and was opting for the Falken wildpeak but cant decide between 265/60/18 or 265/65/18, will the larger size effect the 4th lockup speed or any other input
btw im on standard height suspension

    TIA
    Cheers tt

I can't comment for the lockup speed but i can say you will like the wildpeaks. I had a set of wildpeak muddies on my previous fourby and they were amazing offroad!

Certainly performed much better than their price point. Onroad manners were pretty reasonable for such an aggressive tread pattern too.

Stay 265/60-18 if your stock. It’ll be a nice tidy upgrade.

If you want a bit more and yours is tuned etc a 65 profile will be fine on std gearing. Shouldn’t be too much in the way of clearance issues.

Only an inch between the two sizes. I don't think 31's would be an issue on factory ride height.

I'm running 265/60/18 on pretty much a stock engine and it runs nicely. (3" pipe and egr delete only)
It also steers and drives really well.

The only downside with lockup is 3rd won't lock until a genuine 84-85km/h now, oh, and buy a Hunter Di ratio converter to fix the speedo. (which will also fix hill decent)
2nd and 3rd lockup are fine, mine will often lockup in manual 3rd @ 60km/h running around town.

Shack can re-program the lockup speeds BTW.

The car will eventually get turbo, I/C and map upgrades and a change in 3rd lockup speed, and the next set of tyres will be 265/65's. And unless something absolutely stunning arrives on the market, they'll be Wildpeaks again.

Thats interesting...I am currently running Yokohama's geolanders 265/60/18 and locks up at 70 or just there about, just concerned if I go 265/65 it will delay the lock up

edit: sorry just saw you said 3rd lock up
    Cheers tt

Been running Wildpeaks on our work utes, had a great run out of them, and no punctures, unlike the original Bridgestone garbage. They are 114 load rated so not really an LT.

Might even have to consider them to replace the BFG’s when they are worn out on the LC.
The size for it are 118 load rated,so an LT which is what I need, same as BFG.

I'll add the suggestion that the Hunter Di Speedo corrector be fitted so that it only affects the Speedo.

I've had a few jobs now where it has been fitted at the slabs output and has had an adverse reaction with shifts and cruise control.

There's bugger all online, but a bloke in Sydney has made these pretty much since the D2 came out to correct the speedo.
The C6100 is fully adjustable, not cheap, but works with the D2 where most ratio correctors don't.

I can PM you their email addy if you like?
