Water gauge

Just out of interest, where do owners want the gauge needle to point to at specific temps?

Fwiw the mapping is corrected in both the ECU and the gauge itself, but I seem to have got it sorted, I really think it's a very niche modification that won't catch on, but just thought I'd ask.

I think it'd be a good modification, either separate from, or as part of your " better than others" complete tune package.

Literally off the back of an envelope, my opinion only and obviously not linear, but having the similar middle ground, but not getting there until 75 degrees instead of 70 would allow some to pick up a stuck open thermostat ( a large number when they start to fail hang around 71-72 degrees), which remains unobserved without Nanocom etc.

Yeah I was thinking to maybe have the gauge a "little bit" corrected still.

It'll take a number of changes to make it work reliably.

From what Sierrafery says,the OEM guage on D2 TD5 sits at the center of the guage from 70 to 119 degrees,then at 120 degrees,goes into the red.

Seems a stupid idea to me,it should gradually creep up to the red,from the center,as the temperature gets hotter.

This a good unit - connect one sensor to a bolt on the head somewhere and the other sensor to the transmission or wherever you want. I have tested its accuracy and it is spot on - it responds very rapidly and will give you rapid warning of head temperature rising if you suddenly lose coolant pressure or level. Losing coolant pressure is just as bad as losing coolant.
I have one of these on my P38 and D1. On the P38 I use the second sensor to monitor radiator outlet temp and head temp. I had a standalone coolant temp gauge plumed into the manifold on the P38 - I found the engine guard was just as accurate as the standalone gauge - I have since removed the standalone gauge.
