Sorry for these really basic questions about the Disco2... Stuff I should know, but I'm questioning everything right now while I've got the Disco2 stripped.
1. The middle interior light. Is that meant to be a momentary switch or a 2 position switch? Mine is momentary and I'm wondering if it is broken.
2. Is the middle interior light meant to come on with the front and back interior lights when the doors open. I thought it did... but mine doesn't. It only illuminates when I press the button (and it is momentary)
3. I was testing for roof gutter leaks and notice a lot of water travels down the inside of the exterior A pillar black plastic trim. You can see it draining when the door is opened. Is it meant to do that or do I need more silicon!
4. There is an earthing ring (blk wire) near the key fob receiver which is loose.... is that meant to be bolted down and earthed?
Cheers

Hi Lionel,
It wasn't really a thread, I've just currently got a lot of the interior apart fixing up lots of little things. I've stripped the roof liner out at the moment to:
1. Confirm the source of a water leak - its the trusty old front of the rain gutter
2. Fix the interior lights + new globes
3. Replace the standard rear mirror with an optional autodim compass mirror - the wire loom is in the roof.
4. Retension the middle seats map pockets on the roof
5. Clear out the surprise mouse nest in the roof. Well, it landed on my head as I dropped the liner. A Champagne moment.
There are other trim things I'm fixing like rear 1/4 panel trim, missing seatbelt bolt covers, an unbent drivers foot rest, replace the GPS aerial, replace a cracked headlight, fix the mirror console near the glovebox, new boot handle cover, replace a bolt for the rear door ladder etc. Just some 300,000km TLC
Cheers

Hi,
1. It's not momentary but a so called "on/off -on/off push button switch"(or something like that), you push it once for on then second time for off and so on, a momentary switch just sends an "on" input to a logical circuit so it's closed just while it's pushed...like for example the front fog lamp switch
2. yes, it must come on with the others, if it doesnt there is a contact or wiring issue, make sure that the purple/blue wire in the plug makes good contact with the bulb holder, the live is permannent on the purple wire and that's OK as long as it works with the switch but on automatic mode the BCU provides the earth on the purple/blue wire which splits to all 3 lamps in header C0723
3. i have no ideea
4. Yes, it must be well connected to earth

Thanks so much for this. This is excellent. I suspect my middle light switch might be broken in that case, probably explains a few things. I've ordered another one, hopefully that will fix the problem. I can probably also test the wiring with a multi meter. I couldn't see any damage to the looms or plugs, but the looms are also pretty big. Hopefully if the 3 lights are linked like that then it is just the light switch.
Thanks also re the earth ring near the key fob receiver. I checked the wiring diagram but it didn't make sense to me why that one would be as it was - I'll earth that on the receive bolt.
Thanks Sierrafery for all of your help!
Cheers

To test with multimeter measure across the purple(+) and purple/blue(-) wires in the plug while the other lights are coming on when you open the door, if you get voltage then it means that the problem is in that lamp unit somewhere
