    Donut.

Anybody got a part number, and/or recommend a reliable bricks and mortar (Repco, Bursons etc.) supplier for a D2 part, please?

TVF100010 I believe. Don't like your chances of finding one on the shelf at the places you named, but I suspect they could order one in, although who would be the manufacturer?. Probably quicker and more reliable to go here, unless you are totally averse to online shopping. Anyway, the part number(s) are at the bottom of the page.

Just a word of warning that I and I think a few others have found out changing the rotoflex ...

Don't be tempted just to change the donut alone.
Also get the 'pin' and the bush cup to fully renew all the components that affect the donut.

Pin is on the diff side and the bush is inside the driveshaft(bit of a pain to remove).

Have a peek at THIS website to see the parts listing for it.

You'll see a kit for the donut which comes with bolts and the bush.
I reckon the listing for the bush is incorrectly priced(usually about $20ish, not $200 that they have)

Just to give you an idea of the parts and numbers needed. The pin is about $20 too, and needs some inventiveness to remove(sockets, bolts and it comes out easy).

I read on AULRO a long time ago, that a BMW will also fit and last longer. Anyone got further info on that, BMW year/model.
HS are showing one LR in the country, at Wollongong.

Thanks Arthur, are the pins available only from LR oriented purveyors or will it be a generic/stock item from Hardy Spicier or a driveline type retailer?

Dunno why HS would have made different quality for different cars, especially given that BMW owned LR when the D2 was being developed, and at the beginning of manufacture. Still, strange thing DO happen I guess.

Land Rover were using them before BMW became their masters. IIRC, the BMW one is slightly thicker.

Nope. At least not for the D2. BMW acquired LR in 1994, long before the D2, and simultaneous to the introduction of the 300TDi update to the D1. So I still can't see why they would have cheaped out when they already had a very close relationship with the supplier. But, as I said, strange things do happen.
