Probably obvious, but check the double cardan joint.
Hi All,
Been a while since I've posted on here.
Got a question for those with a TD5 Manual D2.
I started getting a bit of a vibration a little while ago (initially thought it was a wheel alignment/ballance) and found out it only happened at approx 1750RPM.
A little internet search is pointing to the rubber impregnated flywheel. (I did the harmonic balancer and engine mounts about 18mth's ago)
Any feedback or ideas would be great before I go and start removing gearboxes or engine's etc.
Cheers All
Andrew

I have no experience with the DMF, but what I read tends to suggest problems with noise rather than vibrations. Of course, noise and vibration often go together. People seem to say that if you change to a solid you'll soon want to change back.
This thread on here...
Taken from Ashcrofts site. Dual Mass Flywheel - Ashcroft TransmissionsDescription
The Dual Mass Flywheel is prone to failure on the td5 manual vehicles. They wear out after at any time after around 70,000 miles and can cause a rattle. It is often necessary to change this when you change your clutch or gearbox. Made by Valeo

Thanks for the feedback. It appears to be the DMF. The vibrations are there even when out of gear if you get the rev's up to about 1750rpm.
Still hoping it is something else. I'd prefer not to drop the gearbox (and/or full engine) if I can avoid it.
Has anyone here changed one before?
I would go for another DMF, os what I have read the solid ones are not good long term for the engine.
Cheers.
