Actually the issue is real as per around about a year ago in the Wangaratta service centre (coming back to Melbourne), but this was the D2a with 433Mhz! Towed out to the entrance and viola started first time.
The D2 to date has not had this issue but then again I am going to the shops in it. Recently did have to reset the EKA code which may have caused this...
There is a well known issue with the 315Mhz version on earlyer modells, can be the receiver or the BCU... it happens to 433 too but not so common, see the attached TSBs
