Recently while driving my disco 2 I felt a unhealthy rumble when stepping on the accelerator. Went away after that one instance.
I've also recently had the car alarm go off randomly twice in the last couple weeks.
Now the initial problem has returned. I run the engine and it idles smoothly with an occasional hiccup. When reving in park. The engine initially responds and then proceeds to "choke" and slow until a maximum of 2000rpm.
This issue occurred at the same time as my transmission refusing to downshift and showing general opposition to shifting at all without me removing my foot from the accelerator.
No lights of come up on the dash.
Thought low trans fluid so I topped it up and it took about 1L.
Drove it for 15 min after but no dice.
If anyone's got any ideas I'd much appreciate it. Had some recommendations to check Mass airflow sensor.
First post so if more details are required or this is the wrong thread I'll gladly adjust.

The MAF is relevant only if it's Eu3(15+P) engine, the best would be to plug in a nanocom or similar but if you have no possibility to do that a thing to check is the ECU red plug, if it's is oil there replace the injector loom ASAP, another thing is this: Disco 2 - Check Td5 fuel pump HP | LandyZone - Land Rover Forum

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Don't have a meter on hand. Checked the red ecu plug and oil was in it but very minimal amounts. Cleaned it out and started it up. Idled fine with no hiccups. Started driving OK but after accelerating up a hill it began to show same symptoms. Grinding has returned as well. Below is photos and audio of idle + occasional grinding when parked.
Appreciate the help,
Caleb

Checked Red ECU Plug today and did indeed have some oil on it. Removed the battery negative. Little oil had intruded into the connector though so I just used a rag and wiped it out. Below is a photo of the red plug on the outside.

After cleaning it I started it up and it idled beautifully. Unfortunately, when I drove up hill and stepped on the accelerator the former symptoms reappeared. This time a returning of the rattling/grinding in the transmission occurred :(. I recorded audio of idling post test drive and the rattling and engine "misfiring" is audible. Let me know what you think and once again your help is greatly appreciated.
Caleb.

Read again post #3... just cleaning the red plug is not enough, the contacts are weakened at the solenoids and head connector too, be aware that only genuine injector looms are reliable(AMR6103LR), cheap aftermarkets are lottery. After you replaced it keep cleaning the red plug once a week untill all the oil leaves the harness
