    Cruise control inop

How does the cruise control system work on the Discovery 2s? I ask because I press the cruise control button to arm the system, but I can’t actually set the system. Is there an indicator that shows when cruise is set? What are some possible causes of a cruise control malfunction on these besides a brake switch or possibly a vacuum leak?

There are no lights on the dash to say if the CC is being used or not, only the light on the binnacle or when it is armed.

Does the horn still work? If the fuse is blown or the wire somehow disconnected, the horn will stop working also.

If yours is a manual and have had the diff or transfer case regeared, then it wont work either.
    Cheers

    Are your brake lights working??

If all your brake lights are not working including high mount it could be an indication your brake pedal switch is stuffed as loss of cruise control is also a symptom of this.
    Cheers

On the td5 cruise is through the ecu so no vacuum issues as it is drive by wire I would go with sierraferys suggestion

That was the first thing I checked. All brake lights work perfectly. I’m gonna have to dig into it and find out if there is continuity from the switch. Time to bust out the wiring diagrams. 😁

The brake lights functionality has absolutely nothing to do with CC operation cos the brake switch has 2 contacts within, the lights are on the N/O contact and the CC/EMS relies on the N/C contact which doesnt affect the lights at all. You can see the inputs with nanocom or similar but you can try to adjust the switch by fully depressing the pedal and pull the plunger with fingers as much as you can maybe you restore the N/C contact... to 100% rule out the switch remove it and check continuity on it between pins 1 -2 (where the green/orange and orange/green wires are going).
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
