    LT230 rebuild.

The work shop has a roof, sort of.
I have 2 spare LT230 transfer cases. One leaks and the other has noisy bearings. I took the leaky one apart. This is what I found.

This is not a crushable spacer. Some one has been here before, so why are the O rings on the intermediate shaft square?

This fell off, no sealant at all. Lots of sealant holding the two bits together.

Who in the western suburbs of Melbourne could fit the intermediate sleeve?

Before I had a Land Rover I did not have any torque wrenches. Now I have three.

I reckon you should go and watch Mike at Brittanica Restorations. He does a lot on these. The intermediate shaft isn't as easy as it seems if the hole is oval. He also has some tips on the collapsible tube/spacer.

The other bearings are quiet, silent even. I could get away with a new main shaft seal and a pair of O rings. I am annoyed at paying $10.00 -plus postage for a pair of $2.00 O rings. MLR has them for $17.00. I have a set of O rings, Imperial, not metric. I wonder if they would fit/work.
