    Security system.... again

My central locking works when it wants to from the plib. I can't find anything in settings and the Nanocom registers a keypress every time I look. I'm wondering about door switches. The fifth door is often a little difficult to close. I'm guessing that's the hinges as it's way worse with the tyre off. But, could that maybe what the problem is? It's not enough to make the dome light come on.

The nanocom will also show you if the door switches are working (as will the interior light). Maybe also check the bonnet switch??? I think it does need to read the doors are all shut to lock though.
    Cheers

Thanks S. I think all the passenger doors and the bonnet switch are ok. I've been having this issue for a bit, and now it's my daily driver again i'd like it sorted. I really only just noticed the rear door as I had the wheel off it and it wouldn't close at all. Wonder if hinges are available......

The security system and the central locking are not necessarily related, central locking shoud work even if the alarm is completety disabled(set to "not fitted")... as long as the fob works always for the alarm while the central locking is making tricks the problem is only on that path, the tail door switch(or any other door except the driver's) would not mix up the whole system as there is the "partial locking" default, you get a misslock audible warning and the unfaulty doors must lock... there are two circuits, the driver's door alone and all the rest together as the door monitoring switch inputs are joint to one wire to the BCU. The only one which can mix up the whole central locking is the driver's door if the mechnical lock/unlock switch in it makes tricks or a problem in the IDM(interior fusebox).

Hmm. Thanks, I think... So, the fob works, in that the little LED lights up. When tested the Nanocom detects the keypress, the system works without fail by the interior switch and doesn't misslock.
Of course, I'm alone so my nano test is done with me in the car. Could it be a weak transmitter ( although I have 2 ) or a weak receiver in the roof? I have another of those as well, but if I change that I'll have to take out the roof lining, which then means I'll have to fix that.... Sigh..

Actually, the sunroof ( only have one ) used to leak sometimes, so I suppose water may have found its way there.

    RF interferrance?

Theres certain places and times at the work carpark where everyone has problems with their locking.
    just a thought.

I considered that when it first started- it's always been a little haphazard, which I just put down to Land Roveisms, like coming back to it and finding it sitting on the bump stops- but where I live and go mostly there are just trees and bloody cockatoos. It seems worse now, but that's possibly because it's back in regular use after some years of relegation.

thinking on it, the driver's door can be awkward to unlock via the key also, so maybe SF is on the right track...

If you want to go full nerd, one of these will tell you exactly how good the fob is.

Alaways watch the alarm LED on dash when you lock/unlock with the fob, if that one reacts to the command while the doors do not the receiver is ruled out and it's something only with the central locking system, if the LED doesnt react as well then the receiver becomes suspect.

You know, in fifteen tears of owning the car I've never actually done that.
