D2 Tyres - will they fit?

    Gday all
ive just seen some 225/95r16 AT’s for sale.
I think that makes them about 33” but fairly skinny.
Ive got a 2” suspension lift - will they fit under my 04 d2 without dramas?
im thinking they will but very happy to be corrected!
    cheers,
    Col

    I reckon they will.
Nephew has 265/85's on his D2a, and they fit ok, don't bind on guards. Haven't checked full flex if they top out tho.
He's got std suspension but SLS, and full down on SLS I didn't notice it touching top of rear guard.

Major problem is getting it to fit as a spare. His has a steel bar(the typical type, not modded/home made jobbie), and it just dont' fit.

I got 265/75s at the moment on the D2 and the spare 'just' fits enough to close door, but note that's semi deflated too(I think at 20psi).
More psi and it binds so much even slamming rear door won't let it squeeze past the bar enough to make it an easy close.

265/75 is just bees thingy smaller than 225/95, so I reckon you won't have it fit unless you mod the carrier more than the std flip type mod.
    Arthur.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

Thats a weird size, i would stick with a more common size in case you need to replace any.

That is the standard Land Cruiser ute etc tyre size. there are several at tyre places such as Tempe tyres.
I was thinking of them for my caravan.

225/95-16 is a weird Landcruiser size, about the same as 33's like the 285/75-16 and 305/70-16 but a fraction smaller than the 255/85-16. I would expect them to rub under the wheel arches on a D2. I've tried 33's with a 2" lift and they rub in the front underguard in the 255/85 and all over the place front and back with 285/75. Some claim they don't rub, if thats the case then their suspension isn't working well or they're not making it travel and articulate. If your suspension is setup well and its working as it should, then they will rub. The 285/75 which is similar to the 225/95 will fit at full pressure on the back door with a flipped carrier and dropped bumper, 255/85 needs to be deflated to fit and is the limits in size of what will fit.

    265/85-16 I've never seen, was it 255/85-16?

265/75 and 235/85 are about your limits with 2" lifts. Even then, and with specifically flexy 2" lifts (custom, not an off the shelf job) they can still rub, but thats not common the normal.

The other question, is do you really want to run a Landcruiser 225/95 on your D2. It will be unrivalled for ill handling and discomfort compared to any tire you could find on the market short of a 7.50R16.
    Cheers

Thanks for the advice crew D2 Tyres - will they fit?
They’re just AT’s though more road oriented and at $125 each for brand new shoes, I’ll run em on the road.
When I head out in earnest I’ll change wheels and put the muddies on.
They’re Bridgestone, not yota, so I’ve nothing to be ashamed of D2 Tyres - will they fit? (other than running skinny tyres….)

Unless you've regeared for big tyres they will be horrible as road tyres.
Even if you have regeared, a 95 series tyre on a Disco 2 will be horrible.

    My $0.02 worth anyway.

    I'd rather skinny tyres.

I run 265/75 on mine with a 2 inch lift. These are a tad under 32inch.

At the time when I did my research, the consensus was these were the biggest you could get under a D2.

Do you have SLS or coils. If you have SLS and you do go bigger than 32's, make sure that you can run on rear bump stops without fouling mud gaurds,

because if they do, you will be stuffed when you have a suspension issue
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I’m on coils - tough dog 2” lift was done by previous owner.
The cheap Comforser muddies are 32” and I’ve put the suspension through it’s paces, with no scrapes.
Like I said, these new tyres will just be for road and tame off road use and I’ll keep the muddies for rough stuff.
I’ve had 5 spaghetti plugs in the sidewall of the passenger rear for about 6 months, so I’ll be happy to get that off the car! D2 Tyres - will they fit?
