Thread: Td5 top radiator hose

Would be unlikely to pass through the radiator matrix, these are only mm's not cm's wide. Chance but small one it may be at the end of the top radiator hose, but likely to have fallen down somewhat where it may not be seen,

Not exactly how much it would block of the radiator but next clean and degunk of the radiator would think it would come out with a reverse flush.

The bleed screw and thread that was part of the hose has been found but I believe there is some rubber on the inside of the hose behind the screw that has gone missing and my concern is that it is in the cooling system some where. It’s not in the lower steel pipe work, possible the radiator or inside the head???? I just thought this must of happened to some one else before that might be able to help me find it.

Hi, happenned to me too few years ago, no worries as long as you have the plastic thread too, nothing will hurt the cooling system, that plastic thread was somehow moulded into the pipe...when it happenned i had the same concern so i've got a hose from a scrapyard(actually paid a beer for it) which had it intact and cut it near the bleeder to se if it's something there or not and nothing is visible...just get a silicone hose with metal bleed screw and rest your mind

Thanks guys. I was not so concerned about the radiator probably more that what ever else was holding that thread in may block a small gallery in the head. I won’t stress too much about it then. Thanks 👍

Can you recommend a silicone hose with metal screw.

Some research I have done suggests that silicon hose is no that great for cooling system

I replaced the whole lot on mine with the Roose motorsport kit from UK, i can recommend it only quality wise but IMO it's too expensive, now seing other similar products i would say that the price/quality ratio is not the best ...a friend of mine fitted a chinese one more than 2 years ago and he is pleased with it...this kind:Black Silicone Radiator Upper Hose For Land Rover Discovery 2 TD5 Cooling Pipe | eBay ... 90% of all parts are made in China anyway these days so the myth that everything chinese is cr*p is exagerated IMO, i'd rather buy one made in China by chinese workers than one made in Germany(or other EU country) by Sri Lankan refugees

The silicon hose is pretty stable after three years and this was not an expensive set!!

You will notice that I had to make my 'own' bleed screw, simply a bolt and I use a clip around this for security, sure it requires a bit more work but its secure!!

FYI I dont have a hose back to the thermostat - has an electric water pump - and this area was replaced one of the two sensors I have there for monitoring.
