Hi, you can try to clean up the channel both sides with some dedicated compound suitable for such material and a soft tooth brush and give them dry silicone spray after if you dont see any obvious wear or cracks on them.... used to do wonders
Hi,
I have just fitted a new window regulator to the drivers door. The glass has been tilting forward when it goes down and has now started jambing when its approx. 30mm down from the top. As the regulator has no adjustment that I can see due to the non slotted bolt holes, I presume the door channel controls the glass and this now needs replacing? I'm going to order one but thought I'd check first as the genuine article is a little pricey for a bit of flock lined rubber channel.
I've attached a photo which sort of shows what I'm talking about. Cheers

Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
is the window glass moving in it's (own) channel?
I'm thinking if it lifts off at the rear of the channel that holds the glass it would do the tipping movement.
Did you pull door apart when you replaced channel, of course no need too pull the upper channel out to replace regulator, but we have no info on how/what you did when you replaced channel.
Possibly one of the myriad of nuts/bolts not tightened, or came loose or something, throwing the mechanism out.

Mine did/does the same, since l replaced the regulator, some years ago. Not enough to notice, until the window is closed. The back reaches the top, ten mill before the front, but it all squares up once closed.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
Thanks for the advice fellas. After having a good look at the window channel yesterday I've come to the conclusion that the channel is age hardened and not cushioning the glass as it should, if that makes sense. I removed the door card to observe everything and I think I'm on the right track, remembering or course that I'm not a panelbeater. So I'm going to order new channels for both the front doors and eventually the rear doors as well. The existing channels are 21 years old, the flock lining is none existent, and they probably need a rest. I'm also going to do the exterior rubber trim that goes against the glass, as they too are old and probably not working as well as they should. If I keep this up, eventually I'll have a brand new old truck.
Cheers, James

Are both the track rollers ok? they have a habit of wearing out and will do that. Are the 2 bolts that hold the window to the regulator mech tight?

Hello Peter
rollers are ok as it is a new regulator, and the bolts are tight. I do have suspicions that maybe part of the problem lies in the quality or otherwise of the regulator. I fitted an "Allmakes" brand, but I've also fitted them in the past and they seem ok. I'll know for sure when I fit the new channel. Cheers
