Trouble removing hub from half shaft.

    I am replacing the front hub. The half shaft is firmly embedded in the old hub. My trusty bearing puller bent its bolts. Normally the hub just pulls off. I have a few options;
    1/ Apply heat.
2/ put the hub back in with washers to hold the hub out by 10mm, then hit it with the bad day hammer.
3/ take it to work fix it in a vice and then hit it with the bad day hammer.
    4/ combination of 1 and 2 or 1 and 3.

Buy a shop press!! Akthough where to put it.

    Any ideas?

    TIA

I remember having same issue with one on my spares(the daily's shafts have always come out easy tho).

I pulled whole assembly out and placed it on a mock bench(using couple of sawhorses), with the shaft hanging vertical, had some cushions under the axle so it didn't hit concrete, and used this "bad day hammer" on the axle.
Don't need press, just keep banging on about it with a hammer/drift, and gravity will probably provide some assistance.

Only issue with pulling out axle is that almost certainly the inner seal will get some damage as the shaft slides through it, so you really should replace seal, otherwise in very short time you'll have axle oil coming through.

It has a new seal, maybe that will make a difference.

Well I have bent a 13mm steel rod, trying to get this out. I'll try heat. But I think it is seized.
Any one got a spare half shaft? TDB000220

    CV Dislocated.

The shaft has came out of the CV, still in the rubber boot. Is this just a matter of putting the shaft back in? There does not sems to be a circlip to hold it in. The rubber boot has a small 8mm split in it. How do I remove the clips that hold the boot on? I've bought a new boot it has the two outer clips and what looks like circlip!
    Oh the joys of motoring.
Of to youtube to see if there is a video about this!

As I remember it, there is a circlip. Check inside the spline of the cv.
I think it's just a (hard) push fit back in.

I have a new boot and clips on the way. I did see a youtube vid where they used cable ties to fasten the boot. Would that be any good? Hopefully tonight I'll get the hub off. This has been such a performance. I think I need a spare D2, or maybe a D4. Or a Tesla somethng to drive when this Disco is out of action.
It is at times doing my head in.

I really appreciate the support I get from this forum, not just this pain in the arse but all those other ones.

    New CV

I have been unablw to remove the hub. I have bought a new CV. Ia thinking of getting a shop press, I'll need that for the LT230 rebuild. My priority at the moment is to get the car up and running. I can rremove the hub later, at my leisure and have a spare!
