    First disco, rain leaks yay!

    Hello,

Bought my first discovery 2 which for the most part looks well loved, drives well and is only missing a few bits of trim and like interior wear and tear.

Driving home in a heavy down pour yesterday with the A/C on I noticed water being flicked up through the vents under the windscreen and it was also dripping off the cardboard kick panel on the passenger side.

The other spot was I noticed a leak between the door and rubber, it went away not long after it appeared but i think it just found another way as the floor at the base of the a pillar is damp.

Having a look around I noticed the corner gutter trims/ends of the rubber windscreen moulding to be missing or cracked. Also the plenum cowl doesn’t sit flush against the windscreen.

Doing some researching, I’m going to be removing all the associated trim and having a closer inspection of all the seal points and joins.

I’m also going to be pulling out the front carpets until i hopefully get it sorted. My main concerns is the electronics behind the dash and preventing rust and grime build up!

Also is it possible to add photos from a mobile device?

so I’m pretty sure the gap in the cowl is where the water was entering and going into the air vents underneath. It’s not cracked just doesn’t sit flat.

also the corner piece is missing on the top windscreen rubber and on the passenger side it’s just barley holding on. Should there be that much of a gap there? And can that rubber strip be replaced without pulling the windscreen out?

other then the leak and some trim not in 100% the best condition it all seems solid!

Also, the filling in the rain gutter in that wondscreen corner can crack, and that also lets water in. You can also seal that with silicon. Actually, reseal that entire corner.

I don't think that section of cowl, in the first pic with your finger, is an issue. You can remove the cowl there completely.
