    SRS warning light

    Hi all,

I know a lot of SRS warning light issues are sorted by using contact cleaner on SRS plugs (especially under the front seats) my lads D2a is not playing ball. He has pulled , inspected and used contact cleaner on the connections on the 2 under the front seats, the 2 in the B pillars, the one behind the glovebox and the one behind the driver's airbag. He has also replaced the 40 amp fuse to rule that out.

I am without my Nanocom at present because it is getting repaired (and it mignt not even pick up the issue).

Aside from throwing parts at it by replacing the rotary coupler behind the steering wheel, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
PS. There was a reference somewhere to there being 2 lamps in the instrument binnacle for the SRS system and that if one blows the other stays on as a warning...not sure if true. Also RAVE is a bit skinny on SRS stuff.

Find someone close by with a nanocom, it's a waste of time trying to guess.

    That's my suggestion.

Nano isn't particularly helpful with this. Probably because of the car's diagnostics. Mine showed 'Driver's seat shows open circuit', or words to that effect. It wasn't that. Everything checked fine. And, yes, I tried the parts cannon as guessing was all that remained when the Nano was no help. I still don't know the issue, but it went away when I changed the cluster for cosmetic reasons. Probably the PO of the other cluster blanked the light and the fault still exists.

Here I need to repeat the warning: Under NO circumstances should you use any form of test equipment, such as a multimeter, on the SRS system, or BANG! is likely.

Apologies if you already know this.

Repair on Nano taking a bit longer than expected owing to removing and replacing some bits to improve things they reckon. Anyway, we took a punt and replaced the SRS ECU ($20) and self check done, seat belt light goes out, and Bingo! No SRS light remaining. Sorted. Cheers

Good advice for the unwary, although it's only a squib, but the bang can make the Earth move for you, as well as your bowels.
