    4HP22 fill and drain plugs washers

    Looking to service my 4HP22, I’ve got a service kit (filter, o rings and gasket) but noticed there isn’t any washer for the fill/drain plugs.

    i haven’t removed the plugs yet as I want to check that they either they have a washer and don’t need one or hopefully can find out the size and get a washer from a local shop as I would like to change the transmission filter today or this week (parts typically take 5-7 days).

    anyone know what size washer fit these plugs or do I have to get specific ones? Cheers

    I can't help with your question, but you have posted in the D2 section, doesn’t an D2 have a 4HP24?

    Is the 4HP22 a typo, are the service parts interchangeable , do you have the right/wrong parts?

    Can be either*. Both are physically almost identical, the 24 has stronger internals I believe. The drain plugs will be the same.

    * Mine's a 22.

    Well, there you go.

    Is a 4HP22 in a D2 an electronic box?

    I thought a 22 was a full hydraulic box, as used in a D1, and a 24 was a electronic box as well as stronger.

    Disclaimer!
    They're both boxes of black magic not to be trusted 🤪

    All D2s with auto's came with the EH version.

    Most are 4hp22, the US version with the 4.6 had the 4hp24.

    I think some late UK 4.6 ones had the 24 as well although I'm not 100% sure.

    Same box as in the Motronic 4.6 p38.

    The 4hp24 is a stronger box but certainly not a straight swap.

    stc4099 is 14.74mm OD, 10.30mm ID 1.52mm thick as per my very cheap set of caliper's. I'd expect it to be reasonable sourceable given the number of bmw's that ended up with it.
