2004 Classic need help RE heated seats

Hi Guys, I have been a member on here since maybe 2003 but for some reason I couldn't log in with my original Alex130 username, anyways....

I have a 2004 D2 and it is going to have a birthday. I have been chasing parts from around the globe for the surprise birthday part and part of the gifts are the items required to have front heated seats.

I kind of know my way around cars so did some reading and based on this some buying.

So far I have purchased the seat elements, both for the seat base and back for left and right hand sides. I did this as regardless of what I have read stating the seat elements are fitted in factory leather cars on mine it does not seem to be the case.

Under either of the seats there are no wires from the seats themselves apart from the yellow seat belt pre tensioner. Under the right hand seat on the chassis harnes side there is a female 2 pin black plug with what I can guess is 20 gauge wire and from memory was 1 x black wire and 1 x red wire. That is from memory.

    I also ordered 2 x switches.

So why do I need help?

Well I had a little sniff about, removed the switch panel etc to see what I will be in for at fitment time. The GREEN and BLACK switch plugs are there - great! but heading to the setas there are no looms are connectors. I lifted the carpet to see if maybe the loom would be hidden there but there was nothing.

The only other connector that is free is a brown female connector sitting above the SRS computer under the console. Do I need to order a missing loom?

I hope the Disco brain trust can help.

    Thanks Alex.

    G'day Alex.

Firstly, are you semi adept at reading/following wiring diagrams. If not, get good at this. Will make your life so much easier.

Next. Get a copy of RAVE, or for now, at least the wiring sections of RAVE for a D2.

Using RAVE, I can see that if the loom was there, that is from the console to the seat, you should have a brown 4 pin connector for the heat function. If you have electric seats, you will have a light grey 12pin plug loom going to the console(switches). I'm not sure if it's in the same loom, is there a brown 4pin plug end? It looks to me that more likely it could be coming out of the same loom as the yellow pre-tenioner plug on the drivers side.

RAVE will help you 1000x over because following the wiring diagrams and shows you the images in the electrical library that are relevant for your needs.
So, having the electrical library, pages 334-337, shows you the plugs, colours, where they come from(ie. what loom are they part of) ... etc.

But for the purposes of assisting here, you should have brown 4pin plugs on either side, pass side loom comes out of the tensioner loom, driver side I think too.
on the driver side, the black 2pin with red/white and black wires is the seat belt switch connector. Doesn't show one on the pass side tho. So on the drivers side you should have the yellow plug(tensioner), black plug(seat belt) and the brown plug(heater).

@AK83 . Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Got Rave yesterday. I can navigate enough to keep me out of trouble reading diagrams.

The only brown female connector I have is under the center console sitting on top of the SRS computer. There are no brown connectors under each seat comming from the center console(body harness).

Yes, you are correct. On the drivers side I have the yellow seat belt pretensioner wire that is connected and the black 2 x wire connector(that is not connectred to anything)

On the passenger side there is only the yellow seat belt pretensioner wire that is also connected.

I kind of feel that there must be a sub harness missing from the brown connector under the consolde that splits to either seat?

And also, Yes. This is a leather option manual seat car. 2004 Classic

    Again, thanks for youtr help

Here is a pic or 2 of the brown connector above the SRS module behind/below the PW switches that I prseeume should have a subharness that splits to each seat?

My HSE has the heated seat switches inside the cubby box, don't know if that means the looms are in a different place.

My poverty pack 2001 manufacturer D2 had all the necessary connectors (and loom) for both heated seats and electric seats. I got some seats from a HSE and it all connected up easily. I just had to also buy the centre console switch cover plate designed to accept the heater switches and bought the 2 heater switches as.part of that (was a kit). Had to tell the BCU that it had electric seats then good to go. Cheers

Hi, in the green plug there must be a blue/grey wire and in the black one a blue/pink.... follow those wires cos they are supposed to be connected to the seat heater element's plugs... also measure in those plugs if you have +12V on the light green/white wire.

    Looking at your pic(s).
That brown connector, going by what I can work out here, should be the LH heated connector.

    Brown 4pin plug.
Wire colours show green/brown, black, orange/purple and blue/grey. According to electrical library, this is connector C0255.

There should be another brown 4 pin connector looks like the one in the pic. Wire colours on it should be, blue/pink, black, orange/purple, brown/purple. That will be connector C0253 for RH heated seat.

Those two connectors connect to the wires at the seats(not at the switches in the console).

Like SF said, you should also find a black and green plug that go to the switches. They have the blue/grey and blue/pink wires he also refers too. You've already found the LH seat plug(ie. the brown plug with the blue/grey wires).
The wires of note for finding the black and green switch plugs is that they both have a light green/white wires into them. These wires are the power feed to the switches.

If you can locate those three plugs(green, black and brown), then also look for a 20A fuse at fuse 15 in the dash fusebox. This is the power to the light green/white wires.

Note, when stating wire colours, eg. blue/grey, this means wire is blue and tracer, the thin colour part is after the slash. So light green/white = light green main sheath and white tracer.

According to many, RAVE no longer works fully on modern operating systems, but you don't need it too. I don't use it like that. I just dump the files onto the PC then navigate to the relevant folders with the relevant files I want. The naming is a bit cryptic, but I can explain what you need to open. You just need a PDF viewing program. If you are on Windows, I can highly recommend SumatraPDF as the viewer.
