    Td5 smokey

Hi all drove my td5 about 30ks when I pulled up at the lights the car started to blow grey smoke when I got home it was still blowing grey smoke. Now the smoke isn't oily the Provent is filling with a dark oily sludge but when I drained the oil it was fine the head has a leaking welch plug at rhe rear of the head. Any ideas of what is causing theses problems would be great the head is due to be replaced soon with an amc head.
    Thanks Phil

When my D2 split an intercooler hose, the smoke was black, very obvious and also down on power. But grey smoke sounds more like a fuelling issue, could be leaking injector washers or something similar, have to be very careful you don't get a run away as you can't shut it down, it will just run until out of oil (seized) or over revs and throws a rod out the block or similar (new motor) either way, not an ideal situation

    cheers

Runaway is easily stopped by clamping the IC to throttle body hose with multigrips.

Graeme, I'd be most grateful for some more details please (for future reference)! IC to throttle body?

    Thanks,
    Myles
