Just a thought the oil I used was Penrite 10w-40 full syn with zinc is it possible that what I saw was the zinc as what looked like copper when I put it on my finger was like a paste the oil only done less then 1000 ks.
Hi all I changed the oil on my td5 discovery and on draining the old oil on the bottom of the container I drained the oil in was a fair amount of what looked like copper flakes now this car has had a fair number of problems as of late. The head has a leak from a welch plug at the rear of the head them the Provent is getting a black watery slim in it now this water is clear when not mixed with oil no smell it also is blowing a grey to black smoke what is the copper flakes, I get a feeling this engine may soon need a rebuild i a rebuild is needed any ideas as to cost I have a new AMC head.
Thanks, all Phil.

Problem solved what I thought was copper is coolant car will now be parked up until repair thanks all.
Have a look at the oil cooler. Unless you're going to rebuild, of course.
