    Question D2 SLS Valve Blocks???

Hi, 4x4intelligence.com.au have for sale SLS valve blocks that are replacement blocks allowing manual inflation.

Does anyone know about these and have any feedback as I have an the airbag rearend and this would give me manual leveling when towing etc.

    Cheers....

I have one and keep it in the glove box, it is for emergency's if you rip air lines off or your compressor dies.

You are not meant to over inflate your bags. Your SLS rear end should be self levelling for towing etc.

Thanks for the info Piddler....I'm new to the D2 air suspension thang and thought that the SLS came with a remote to activate the leveling which isn't part of setup. The bags just raise the 40mm for low speed work.

If this is right can this be used to do the leveling???

    Hi,
you can use a remote but the SLS self height adjusts according to load on it there are sensors on the arms on the rear.

    Hi from NZ!
Anyone have a picture of these or details of how they work? I wonder if it is possible to leave on permanently attached somehow?

    Thank you

I think the remote was an option,,
The rear will raise only if bottomed out,(anybody had this actually happen?) or by dash button.
and then only in low range at very slow speeds.

The air bags adjust themselves according to weight & load.
If I take out weight from the rear of the car you can hear the bags deflating to pre load pressures.

Yes you can buy a remote to adjust the height of your rear end - it was designed so that you could lower the car to match trailer heights or lower the car to make it easier to unload.

I have used it to make it easier for the elderly to get in the car (mine has a
    2" lift & 32" tyres).

The remote works when all doors are shut & with the engine running - there is a significant amount of travel.

It was an option to purchase & if you do buy one it has to be programmed to the car.

I was lucky enough to get one at the right price a while ago.

    Question

SLS seems a very popular topic.

So with an occasional deflating RHS bag, I was told the compressor values was the fault, and that would require a new compressor.

New comprerssor fitted, OK at the workshop, 5km later and parked, RHS down again, back home 5km, both sides down.

Sometimes they stay up. But it is just about always the RHS. This was exactly the same issue prior to the new compressor. (What is the cylinder part approx 100mm in dia and 100mm long that is connected just behind the compressor box.?)

Interesting, if the SLS is "ëxtened" by the button, they both stay up, so I suspect the bags are OK.

But as noted in this forum thread, air gets released as you unload. I can hear air escaping as the SLS sinks when parked in normal mode, so where is the "part" that releases this air, perhaps it is faulty, or is that part comtrolled by the ECU that is been said to be behind the glove box.

    Any ideas

Not commonly the compressor/ valves. It will more than likely have a bag leaking, a good way to test is to spray soapy water over them, then get someone to push down on the back of the vehicle one side at a time and look closely for leaks as the bag folds under when compressed. I had one where it would stay fully inflated for days until the vehicle parked on a slight slope, then you could watch the RH side slowly sinking accompanied by the hiss of escaping air

SLS is a consumable item that has reached its use by date.
    Ten years is not bad.

all these things tend to happen together,,
    TD5 oil pick up bolts,
    oil in harnesess,

usually afterwoods you never hear of them again.

The simple way to pick where the air is escaping is to disconnect the bags from the compressor, fit tyre type valves, pump up and drive away,,

Turned out my bags were fine, it was leaking back through the block.

And now we've had our first compresser REPAIR,, the fix should be (relatively) painless.
